Kelu Dal is a less known high altitude glacial lake in Saal Valley of Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh. It is located at an altitude of 4280 meters and it remains frozen for about 6 months of an year. So it is reachable mostly from May to October.

Trek to this lake starts from Kurtha village which is about 5 kms from Saho. Bus service to Kurtha village is available from I.S.B.T. Chamba.

Snow Hike from Khajjiar to Dainkund Peak Dalhousie

Dainkund Peak is the highest peak near Dalhousie and is easily reachable from Dalhousie side with a 1.5 km hike from the road end. But in winters when the road above Dalhousie close due to snow then it becomes a very long hike as you also need to cover the 13 kms road distance by foot. So in this video I’ve shown a shortcut to reach Dainkund Peak easily even when the road is closed. This shortcut starts from 6 kms from Khajjiar and this 6 kms of road mostly opens within 2-3 days of fresh snowfall so you can reach here by vehicle if you don’t wanna hike those 6 kms on road. And from that point you’ll reach Dainkund Peak in max of 2 hrs. So if you’re hiking from Khajjiar lake you’ll reach at Dainkund Peak in just 3-4 hrs with a normal speed. So you’ll have more time to spend on top and enjoy the views there and you’ll get back to Khajjiar timely. I hope this video will be helpful for you guys. Have fun ! Happy winters! ☃️
