Seven Lakes of Dhauladhar

Dhauladhar mountain range of Himalayas separates Chamba, Kangra and Kullu districts of Himachal Pradesh and it is home to Gaddi shepherds who roam over this mountain range for sheep grazing. They’ve found around 22 lakes over Dhauladhar and 7 of them are extremely sacred.

These 7 lakes are Nag Dal, Chandrakup Dal, Dhamghodi Dal, Lam Dal, Kali Kund, Nagara Dal and Kareri Dal. Locals visit these lakes every year to take holy dip in these sacred lakes in the month of August.

Trek to Lam Dal lake

Lam Dal lake is a high altitude lake in Chamba Himachal Pradesh situated at an altitude of 3980 meters over Dhauladhar mountain range. It is largest lake among the 22 glacial lakes of Dhauladhar with the circumference of about 2 kms and It is the second largest natural lake of Himachal Predesh.

Every year thousands of devotees visit this lake during Lam Dal yatra which is held for 15 days from Janamashtami to Radha ashtami. Devotees from Kangra district visit this lake from Minkiani Pass, Indrahar Pass, Baleni Pass and Gaj Pass But it is easily accessible from Chamba side and most of devotees visit here through Chamba side.

So I’ve made this video from Chamba side so you guys can easily do this trek without any guide. The trek starts from Brehi village and passes through Drakund forest rest house and after camping at Nagara Dal we crossed Kali Kund Lake and reached Lam Dal. The trek from Brehi village to Lam Dal lake is around 18 kms approx.
