Kankot Dhar Dhauladhar Chamba Himachal Pradesh

Kankot Dhar is a 4050 meters high mountain over Dhauladhar mountain range. It is situated on the west side of Dhauladhar mountain range and it is the last above 4000 meters mountain of Dhauladhar range leading towards Dalhousie town of Chamba Himachal Pradesh. Because of this it is visible to a wide area of Chamba district of Himachal, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and some areas of Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh.

Kankot Dhar is a beautiful pyramid shaped mountain that is clearly visible from the main town of Chamba. It remains covered with snow around the year and enhances the beauty of Chamba town.

Kankot Dhar is definitely the best and one of my favourite treks in Chamba that you can do all year round. Though it is a bit tough to summit during winters but still the thrill and beauty of this trek worth everything.

Kankot Dhar trek from Chamba have two routes one is from Kundi village and other is from Barei Village. I’ve done both routes and made detailed videos about the trek routes that you can see below. Also one is from winters while other is from summer. I’ve shared every details in the video but if you still have any queries feel free to ask in comments.🙏

You can also hire me as a guide for this trek. Contact through email, Facebook or Instagram for bookings.

Seven Lakes of Dhauladhar

Dhauladhar mountain range of Himalayas separates Chamba, Kangra and Kullu districts of Himachal Pradesh and it is home to Gaddi shepherds who roam over this mountain range for sheep grazing. They’ve found around 22 lakes over Dhauladhar and 7 of them are extremely sacred.

These 7 lakes are Nag Dal, Chandrakup Dal, Dhamghodi Dal, Lam Dal, Kali Kund, Nagara Dal and Kareri Dal. Locals visit these lakes every year to take holy dip in these sacred lakes in the month of August.

Land of these 7 lakes is so beautiful that it attracts thousands of trekkers and adventure lovers but trek to these seven lakes is difficult and challenging and many of the trekkers who are doing it by themselves failed to complete it.

So I’ve decided to make this video series for DIY trekkers to guide them to these seven lakes of Dhauladhar and to make everyone’s trek successful. I hope this series will be helpful for you and answers all your queries about 7 lakes of Dhauladhar. 🙏 But if you still have any queries feel free to ask in comments.🤗
