Lagoond Camping Ground Jassourgarh Churah Valley Chamba Himachal Pradesh

Lagoond Camping Ground is a beautiful meadow amidst a dense deodar forest near Jassourgarh area of Churah valley of Chamba Himachal Pradesh. Lagoond meadow is situated on a mountain ridge so it offers a good view of Churah valley but still it is hidden by tall deodar trees growing over the edges of this beautiful meadow. It makes lagoond a perfect hideout in the woods yet it is just an hour hike from the nearest village Gadiyog.

Lagoond is perfect for a day hike or an overnight camping adventure. You can reach here by a 5 kms off-road from Jassourgarh to Gadiyog village and from there it’s an easy hike of 2 kms that anyone can do easily in an hour.

Kankot Dhar Dhauladhar Chamba Himachal Pradesh

Kankot Dhar is a 4050 meters high mountain over Dhauladhar mountain range. It is situated on the west side of Dhauladhar mountain range and it is the last above 4000 meters mountain of Dhauladhar range leading towards Dalhousie town of Chamba Himachal Pradesh. Because of this it is visible to a wide area of Chamba district of Himachal, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and some areas of Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh.

Kankot Dhar is a beautiful pyramid shaped mountain that is clearly visible from the main town of Chamba. It remains covered with snow around the year and enhances the beauty of Chamba town.

Kankot Dhar is definitely the best and one of my favourite treks in Chamba that you can do all year round. Though it is a bit tough to summit during winters but still the thrill and beauty of this trek worth everything.

Kankot Dhar trek from Chamba have two routes one is from Kundi village and other is from Barei Village. I’ve done both routes and made detailed videos about the trek routes that you can see below. Ain Pukhari Dhar Chamba Himachal Pradesh

Ain Pukhari Dhar is a beautiful meadow on the ridge parting Saal valley and Churah valley of Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh. It is situated at an altitude of 3380 meters surrounding by dense forest on a steep ridge making it a hidden paradise that only people of Gujjar community know about. Gujjars stay here in summer and monsoon for cattle grazing.

On the west of Ain Pukhari Dhar the ridge go through Chandi-Chala Dhar and Banotu Dhar and on the east side it rises upto Galaund Gala and Supeka Dhar. Basically this whole ridge is a paradise in itself and you can hike over the ridge as there is a good visible trail.

Trek to Ain Pukhari Dhar start from Kurtha Village and goes through Sara Village and it is about 8.5 kms. Kurtha Village is about 20kms from Chamba and is well connected with public transport.

Kansar Dhar Kalhel Chamba Himachal Pradesh

Kansar Dhar is a mountain ridge in the northern end of Kalhel valley of Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh. It is about 3.3 km hike from last road end of Chamba – Kalhel – Raila road and it is about 45 kms from I.S.B.T. Chamba. Trek starts from Charori village then crossing Dehri village on can reach Kansar dhar ridge within 2-3 hours.

There are a few temporary huts of Gujar community at Kansar Dhar ridge. They live here in summer season for grazing their livestock. Local kids go there to play cricket on weekends or holidays.

Kansar dhar looks at it’s best in monsoon and winter season. Do visit in monsoons for green and mystic views around or in winter if you want loads of snow. Kansar dhar have some beautiful and peaceful meadows surrounded by deodar’s forests and that makes it best place for a day hike, picnic or camping.

Kansar dhar is one of the easiest trek that you can do in Churah valley of Chamba Himachal Pradesh. In winters it receive around 3-6 feet of snowfall. So in winters it may get risky in some points because of steepness of the trail and also due to roadblocks you may have to hike 4-5 kms so start your hike early in winters.

Banotu Dhar Sillagharat

Banotu Dhar is a small ridge in the end of Sillagharat valley of Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh. It is about 1 km hike from Banjah the last village of Sillagharat valley.

Last road end is about 3 kms hike away from Banotu Dhar top and Sillagharat bus stand is about 4 kms away.

There are 4-5 temporary huts of gujar community at Banotu Dhar ridge. They live here in summer season for grazing their livestock.

Banotu dhar looks at it’s best in monsoon and winter season. Do visit in monsoons for green and mystic views around or in winter if you want loads of snow.

Banotu dhar is one of the easiest winter trek that you can do in Chamba Himachal Pradesh.

Kumar – Parmar Bhatori

Kumar Parmar Valley is one of the sub valleys of Pangi Valley of Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh. It is smallest valley among other sub valleys of Pangi as it has only two major villages one is Kumar village which is the first village when you enter the valley by road and the last village which is known as Parmar Bhatori where the road ends. So in the names of these two major villages it is known as Kumar Parmar Valley or simply Parmar Valley.

Parmar Bhatori is the last village where Buddhist people reside and beyond Parmar Bhatori there’s no settlement. When you hike past Parmar Bhatori you reach at the south face of mount Bahai Jar or Shiva Peak which is also visible from Hudan Valley on north side. So on north of Parmar Valley is Hudan Valley and on south there is Sechu – Tuan Valley.

Pangi Valley

Pangi Valley is situated on the banks of Chadrabhaga river in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh. After Lahaul Chadrabhaga river flows towards Sansari Nala that flows from Gandhari glacier to Chandrabhaga in Jammu and Kashmir, where Chandrabhaga is known as Chenab river. All of this area from Lahaul Valley to Sansari Nala is known as Pangi Valley.

Pangi Valley consists of different valleys like Sural, Hudan, Parmar, Hillu-Tuan and Chasak. Pangi Valley is one of the most remote places of Himachal Pradesh as it remains uncut for 6 months of an year due to heavy snowfall. You can only explore Pangi Valley from Summer to fall season.

On 7th July 2021 we went to explore most remote valley of Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh, Pangi Valley. It was monsoon season but we got a week of clear weather and explored Pangi Valley and brought you guys this video series.

Dharota Temple Chamba Himachal Pradesh

Dharota Temple is a small temple over a 1620 meter high mountain top near Chamba town of Himachal Pradesh. The temple is dedicated to goddess Kali and it offers a 360 degree view of chamba valley due to it’s geographic location despite being a low altitude mountain top.

Dharota temple is an ancient temple and the place is even mentioned in history books of Chamba. Watch this video to know more about this place and if still have any queries please do ask in the comments.🙏

Niloh Dhar Naag Lake

Niloh Dhar is a beautiful mountain ridge of 2700 meter altitude near Bharara village of Churah Valley of Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh. The ridge have a small lake and meadows perfect for camping.

The lake is dedicated to Naag Devta and there is also a small temple on the west side of the lake. One can easily reach at the lake from Bharara village after hiking for 2 hours.

To reach here you can take bus from ISBT chamba or you can take your own vehicle upto Bharara village. There is also a newly constructed off-road which cut down your hike to one hour.

Diganpaal Temple Rajindu Saho Chamba Himachal Pradesh

Diganpaal Temple is located at an altitude of 2420m over a mountain top named as Dhar Kanda in Rajindu panchayat of the Saal valley of Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh. The temple is dedicated to a local deity called as Diganpaal or Diggu Baba.

The trek starts just a kilometre away from Saho bus stand and it is a low altitude trek as compared to other treks which makes it best to trek in winters or in full snowfall in Saal valley.

The 80% part of this trek is through villages and last 20% is through a small forest. But whole trek is very steep although any fit person can do it in 2-3 hours of time. So it’s upto you whether you want camp there or you can do a day hike in winters.
