Prashar lake is situated on a mountain top at altitude of 2600 meter in district Mandi of Himachal Pradesh. It is 50 kms drive away from the main town of Mandi.
Prashar lake is surrounded by lush green meadows and 360 degree view of snow clad mountains of Dhauladhar and Great Himalaya mountain ranges. The area surrounding the lake is reserved but you can camp outside the boundary fences of Prashar lake. There are some government rest houses to stay.
There is an ancient temple dedicated to sage Prashar who meditated there and the lake was named after him.
There is a floating island in the lake that keeps moving around the lake. This phenomenon is worth watching. In this video you can see in the evening shots it’s in one end and the very next morning it’s on the other end.
